Explanation

An organ is a tissue that carries out a certain important jobs, or several jobs. Your body has a whole team of organs. Each one has a different speciality, like pumping blood, but they all work together to keep you alive and keep your body working properly. Some examples of the main organs are your heart, kidneys, brain and lungs.

If one of your organs isn't working properly, your doctors may decide that it would be best to replace it with a new healthy one in an organ transplant.
