Fat
Fats are an important part of your diet, because they provide energy and help your body to take in some vitamins. Foods with a lot of fat in them give you more energy than those that contain mainly carbohydrate or protein, so you need to be careful about how many high-fat foods you eat. Fats can be saturated or unsaturated.
Saturated fats are known as bad fats because too much of them can block up your arteries eventually. These are foods like butter, margarine, cheese, cakes, biscuits, chips and other fried foods. You should limit the amount of these that you eat.
Go for foods that contain unsaturated fats instead, like nuts, seeds, oily fish, avocado, vegetable oils and olive oil spreads.
