Churg-Strauss syndrome is a rare type of inflammation of your blood vessels. You could get it if you have asthma. No one knows what causes it, but you can get it if your immune system goes into overdrive when it shouldn't.

Research has shown that Churg-Strauss syndrome is probably an autoimmune disease. It most often affects the veins and small arteries in your lungs, skin, nerves and abdomen.
