Breast cancer is a problem with the cells of the lobules or ducts in your mammary gland (breast). These cells go wrong when they are making copies of themselves (dividing) and make too many. Kids don't get this type of cancer, but it is the type that women are most likely to get and it can affect men too, although this is very rare.
To start with, the cancercells stay in one place and form a lump that a woman or her doctor can feel through her skin. So, women are advised to check their breasts for lumps regularly, especially if someone in their family has had cancer before.
