Astrocytes
Astrocytes are type of cell that is found in your brain. The term 'astro' means a star, and 'cyte' means cell, so astrocytes are 'star-cells'. They are a type of blial cell, so they're also sometimes called astroglia. There are more astrocytes in your brain than any other cell, and they have many different jobs.
They act as the barrier between your brain cells and tissue that is not part of your nervous system. They also help neuron by taking away waste and delivering nutrient. It's thought that they may play other important roles in your brain, but these are still being researched by scientists.
