The Medikidz area group of larger than life, space dwelling characters who live on Mediland - a planet shaped like just like the human body. The Medikidz will take children on a journey through Mediland, explaining complex medical issues in a language and style they can understand.

"What's Up With John?' tells the story of John who has scoliosis of his spine. The Medikidz zoom in and take him to Mediland and onto the top of a huge skeleton - or to be precise the top of the vertebral column - where he is shown everything to do with his scoliosis and what can be done, including surgery if necessary.

This one is pretty close to my heart because I have a friend who has a severe scoliosis but refused surgery - it didn't stop her do anything and yes she went onto to have 2 strapping sons and a daughter!

I love the humour in these stories and the relationship within the Medikidz themselves and this makes for a fun telling of the story.

John goes from being a victim to the coolest guy ever! Good graphics and easy to read balloons. Again I more than highly recommend this book for kids and adults.
