MediHealth - Donor

Donors are healthy people who choose to give something like blood, for blood transfusions, or one of their organs, like their heart or liver, to someone else who is sick and needs it.

Sometimes organs, or parts of organs, can be donated while the donor is alive. For example, everyone has two kidneys and two lungs, so if you donate one, the one you have left just works harder!

Other organs, like your heart, can't be given while you are alive, because no other organ can do their work. But you can still offer to donate these organs, so that if you ever die in an accident, you can help someone else after you've gone.
