MediHealth - Calcium

Calcium is a substance called a mineral and there is more of it in your body than any other mineral. There is also calcium in some foods, like dairy products, and even in some medicines, like antacids.

A small amount (less than 1%) of the calcium in your body is used to help it do a variety of different jobs, like muscle contraction (squeezing), expanding and contracting of your blood vessels and passing signals from nerve to nerve.

The other 99% of your body’s calcium is stored in your bones and teeth and supports them, keeping them strong.
