MediHealth - Brain
Your brain is the control centre for your body. It is protected by your skull and it is made up of three main parts. These are the cerebrum, the cerebellum and the brain stem. Every time you smell, see, listen, think, learn, imagine or remember, it's your brain in action, and the different parts of it have different jobs! Your brain sends electrical instructions from neuron to neuron, and then to the rest of your body.
Your brain is divided into two cerebral hemispheres, and each cerebral hemisphere has four lobes: the frontal lobe, the parietal lobe, the temporal lobe and the occipital lobe. The four lobes are connected to each other and they work together to control everything you do!
Did you know? Your brain is only 2% of your body weight, but it uses 20% of the oxygen you breathe, 20% of the calories you take in and 15% of your body's blood supply.
